Testimony of Hayder, MSF driver trapped by fighting in Beit Lahia, northern Gaza
Gaza-North, Beit Lahia
- Attacks on civilians and mass casualty incidents
- MSF bearing witness
"We tried to flee Beit Lahia, but my wife had great difficulty walking, which made the situation extremely difficult. On the way, we came across people turning around and going back to Beit Lahia. They told us that the Israeli soldiers at the checkpoint were blocking the way. We decided to turn back. The bombardments are incessant. We hear explosions and airstrikes day and night. Sometimes there are fewer, sometimes there are more. There's nowhere safe. I try to stay strong in front of my family and children, but deep down I'm terrified. The fear is there, it's real. I expect to die at any moment. I keep asking myself how my children and I are going to die. I don't have the answer."
