Lancet study claims Gaza death toll has been underestimated by 41 percent

According to the study, 64,260 died in Gaza during the first nine months of the war between Israel and Hamas — 41 percent higher than the figure given by the Gaza Ministry of Health. This figure represents 2.9 percent of Gaza's pre-war population, "or around one in every 35 inhabitants."
