11,000 pregnant women are in phase 5 (catastrophe) of the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC)

Food insecurity leads to an increase in complications during pregnancy and low birth weight, with catastrophic consequences for the health of mothers and newborns. Nearly 17,000 pregnant and breastfeeding women will need treatment for acute malnutrition over the next 11 months.
